Make sure your locale is configured properly. I have LANG=ru_RU.KOI8-R
and abiword doesn't give me any messages like that.
However, as I have discovered there are problems with russian locale,
as atof() function expects a comma (,) as a decimal separator, as opposed
to a period (.).
The guys at AbiWord said that they were working on this one.
