Notwithstanding some discussion that Dom participated in (and is
recorded on the wiki) I think it may be appropriate for some bugs to be
FAQs on the wiki as well, perhaps under these circumstances:

   * it is a bug that lots of users run into (thus prompting a lot of
discussion on the mail lists -- part of the function of a wiki/FAQ (in
my mind) is to minimize such discussion and repetitive answers -- answer
it once on the wiki/FAQ

   * the fix is not imminent (should be fixed before 2.2.2 sounds like a
fix is fairly imminent, but others are probably in a better position to
do that)

   * a mechanism is put in place to almost guarantee that the FAQ is
removed when the bug is fixed (or suitably revised if there is a good
reason to leave it -- one good reason might be to aid people with an
earlier version of AbiWord, in which case, after the bug is fixed, some
notes should be added to the FAQ, including something like "fixed in
version " n.n.n.) The first "mechanism" I can think of is to cross
reference the bug and the FAQ in both the FAQ and the bug, and ask that
the fixer of the bug, either revise the FAQ, or at least post a notice
on the user (?) list saying that the bug is fixed and asking that
someone revise that particular FAQ.

I don't know if this particular bug is worthy of that effort. You
(whoever) be the judge, and if you think it is appropriate, add an FAQ,
and modify the bug to provide a cross reference.

Randy Kramer
