Hello,
My experience with bidi abiword on linux: (I dont know about windows)
Use version 1.99.3. It is called "unstable" but it works fine.
If you want to write a mainly hebrew document, then do
tools -> preferences -> preference schemes -> default right to left
Then do
view -> toolbars -> extra
This will show the LTR, RTL paragraph icons.
The next time you open a window, it will be right to left dominant.
You also need to switch the keyboard to hebrew.
If you use Abi for both English documents and Hebrew documents, the
above switching from LTR dominant to RTL dominant documents takes much
time. You can overcome it by having the two versions available.
Make a file which contains the lines
LANG=he_IL.ISO-8559-8
export LANG
/usr/local/bin/AbiWord-2.0
name this file, say, "hebword", make it executable by chmod a+x hebword,
and put it on your path, e.g. into /usr/local/bin/
Now "abiword" will run a LTR version, "hebword" will run a RTL version.
