Subject: spelling - getting dictionaries

Hello, I'm using Abiword 9.4.1 on Windows 95/98. I was trying to get
spelling dictionaries for Canadian English, German, French and possibly
some more. The User FAQ directed me to a file of 22 languages at
sourceforge. I cancelled the download when I saw it was 14.4 MB -- too long
on a dialup connection when I'm only going to use a fraction of the
download, if that (because there's no list to show me whether my languages
are included).
But I saw that there were individual dictionary files at the same spot. I
downloaded what I hoped was Canadian English (en-CA). This was an RPM file,
which my system didn't recognise. So I searched for and downloaded a
utility for that. Unpackaging the en-CA file I encountered an "unexpected
end of file" error. So I went back to sourceforge and downloaded the
Australian English RPM file. This worked OK and I successfully installed
the british.hash file.
It seems to me though that as it is referred to from the User FAQ, this
whole process ought to be a little less user-hostile. First, could the
error in the en-CA file be fixed? Also, could all the hash files be
available as individual downloads? Perhaps as .gz files, which my system at
least could have handled without further ado.
Regards,
Alban
