I've tested exporting a range of documents to OpenOffice. That works at
least as well as it did pre-patch (after a minor fix). I don't have a
windows machine, but I might be able to get five minutes on one tomorrow
to check Word/Word Pad.
It's always possible that some documents might have trouble, as I only
have a limited range of test docs. In particular, I don't have any apps
that I know need the attic format.
