Question

How do I pull the text content out of an Abiword native format file (.abw file)?

Answer

Use XSLT, specifically: <verbatim> xsltproc foo.xsl bar.abw </verbatim> Where *bar.abw* is the name and path to the .abw file, and

  • foo.xsl* contains:

<verbatim> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="text"/> </xsl:stylesheet> </verbatim>
