I suspect that I may have (only) added the &lt;pre> tags around the above, and, like has happened elsewhere, TWiki''s revision record misattributed somebody else''s changes.  I need to remember to dig into the problem over on twiki.org and then report back here.  _I wonder if Main.[[FredHampton|FredHampton]]''s revision attribution will be overwritten by this (which would mean the problem is still occurring).  IIRC, the problem on twiki.org was related to running out of temporary file space in some relevant directory._

Im sure this is not the right page for this question, but Ive just spent the last hour trying to find pages referencing my questions about Abiword, to no avail. I hope someone can point me to the documentation, if it exists, for inputting non-English characters in Abiword.

I use Win XP, with the US-International keyboard layout. Abiword cant handle it, and behaves unpredictably. I dont have this problem with any other text editor or word processor Ive used. Given that Abiword touts its flexibility in terms of handling different languages is, my question is, how in the world do you all manage to input text requiring accented characters?

Also, Abiword produces question marks in place of text input with Microsofts Chinese IME.

I see nothing in the documentation regarding alternate keyboards, special characters or IMEs at all.

If Wordpad, and many many non-Microsoft programs can handle this stuff, why cant Abiword?
