Q: I have installed Abiword 2.x for Linux. I have just a little problem about the color of the highlighting: I cant see what I have selected because the color selection is white too. How can I change the color for the selected text?
A: There are two possible solutions to this problem:
- AbiWord uses the GTK theme colors for the highlighting color. Some themes are broken and make the highlight color become the same as the page color. Try changing the GTK theme.
- If you are using KDE, then make sure you uncheck the "Apply colors to non-KDE applications" option in the KDE Control Panel, which is located under "Appearances & Themes -> Colors".
This was fixed in KDE 3.2.3: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79464

Q: I have installed Abiword 2.x on a Slackware 10.1 system using KDE. As I type:
<blockquote>
- This is a test of abiword. No matter what I type, I get errors in the rendering of keystrokes*
It gets rendered on the screen, however, like this:
- This is a test of abiword. o matter what I type, I get errors rendering of the keystroke*
What is even more strange, if I copy the mis-rendered text into this twiki (using Cntrl-C, Cntrl-V), I get the following perfect text.
- This is a test of abiword. No matter what I type, I get errors in the rendering of the keystrokes.*
Things also change if I make the window smaller or bigger. Often if I start out full screen, the rendering errors correct themselves when I make the screen smaller. Any ideas? Main.TomFrei - 14 May 2005

A: This is most likely Bug 7149, which affects antialiased fonts.
