AbiWord Repeats as Linux World Show FavoriteWins Office Suite category in voting by 20,000 attendeesNEW YORK, NY -- Friday, February 4th, 2000 -- For the second time in a row, Linux World attendees have voted AbiWord as their Show Favorite, winning the Office Suite category. Winners in other categories included IBM, Corel, SuSE, and VA Linux. About AbiWordAbiWord is a cross-platform Open Source word processor which runs natively on Linux, Win32, BeOS, Solaris, and other flavors of Unix. AbiWord is the first component of AbiSuite, a cross-platform office suite, entirely Open Source, being developed and coordinated by the AbiSource team. The latest AbiWord pre-release, 0.7.8, features better support for non-English content, an Insert Date and Time dialog, Page-level navigation, Overline, new Swedish and Indonesian translations, new LaTeX exporter, plus Word and RTF fixes, better error propagation, miscellaneous PostScript fixes, and RPM fixes for GNOME desktop integration. The popularity of AbiWord is building rapidly.
