crashing while importing .doc

dear abierto's,
yesterday i tried to open a .doc file (word 97) but abiword had
difficulties, and the whole system was freezing, so i went to sleep and this
morning it still was frozen.
just now i tried it again, it started having difficulties, but i was just in
time to press ctrl-c
i did get this message:

i really dont know what it means. any ideas?
