Getting AbiWord to work correctly with Eastern European languages has been
an elusive target. Much of the problem is that AbiWord doesn't have enough
programmers on the project who have put forth the effort to get this
particular aspect hashed out.

Since 0.7.5, Jeff has been working with Leonard Rosenthol,
leonardr@lazerware.com, to get better support for cyrillic characters into
AbiWord. As of 0.7.6, we still will not support them, but we are getting
much closer. I suggest you join the developer mailing list, or help gather
additional interest from other native Czech speakers to help grind out all
the potential problems that may are remaining.
