AbiWord requires Type 1 fonts for display and print. If you can
find a Verdana version in Type 1 format, getting it to work is very
simple. Since this is a very popular font, I would guess finding
a version in Type 1 format would not be that hard. Installing it
is as easy as copying it (both .pf? and .afm parts) to
/usr/share/abisuite, and adding it to /usr/share/abisuite/fonts.dir,
while incrementing the number at the top. Ok, so it's not the easiest,
but it's possible.

To use TrueType fonts (the format Windows uses) we'll have to
wait for support from XFree86 4.0, which is scheduled for release
some time in the first quarter of 2000.
