rtf question

Hi using 2.68 XP and Ubuntu. There's an issue:

I open a normal looking .rtf doc in Abi it's looks OK ... I open the same .rtf in Wordpad and I see a proprietary listing of an Abiword document - essentially it's garbage in Wordpad.

.rtf is not a proprietary Abi format. It should open fine in both programs with no surprises like this. The results of sending resumes or other important docs w/the supposed insurance that it can be predictably opened and read is important.

What's "gives" here?
