Maybe I'm finding a solution here. Go ahead and call me an idiot if missed
something obvious from the start:
When composing a document in "normal" mode, I get the footnote error. But when
I switch to "print" mode, all is fine (either editing previous footnote text
or composing new text). I don't have access to the machine that was working
fine, but I'm suspecting it was set on print mode. (I'll check later.)
Meanwhile, is it a known issue that footnotes have to work in print layout and
not in normal or web? Will someone do a quick test to see if this behavior is
unique to me?
