Dear Abisouce,
I am interested in your alternative to Microsoft Word and would like some additional information ------ Why? You see this number 1, I ask Microsoft Works Word Processor, which came installed in my new HP computer bolding exxpressing on the processor’s face
“Microsoft Windows XP Media Edition” and I was told it had Microsoft Works Word Processor installed. Well, what it has is genuine ‘CRAP’. It will not even install page numbers correctly and this seems like an OK standard to both Microsoft and HP. Microsoft Word is just too expensive so I am looking at alternatives to what I became used to on my old Gateway [though they do the same as above now].
I really need these features and want to know precisely what your system has besides the regular stuff such as ‘Spell-Check‘. This I need: 1. Page numbers inserted correctly and your choice as to location at bottom of page; 2. Readability Statistics; 3. Passive Voice % [I am not sure right now how this is stated on Microsoft Word, but it gives the percentage of passive voice used and where so a person can re-think/re-word the sentence or phrase. There is of course a lot more on Microsoft Word but these three items I really do need. I try never to use the passive voice but some “was” and such gets in. And, who does not want their page numbers inserted correctly. This Microsoft Works Word Processor has put page numbers all over the place; wherever you are at in your typing at the time, be it at Dear, Respectfully, or the end of a paragraph, that is where this dumb system inserts the page number requested and it will not insert automatically at a preset position such as ‘bottom lower right’, bottom lower left’, or ‘bottom center’. I have griped to Microsoft HQ and all they want me to do is pay their expensive service to fix it or buy Microsoft Word, which I am not going to do. I am one person just plain fed up with Microsoft!
I have also complained multiple time to HP as well as to the Circuit City where I bought my system. I am also placing my specific gripes on the various Complaint.com websites.
Please have someone with Abiworld/Abiword contact me at campbellrp@bellsouth.net with more specific information on the writing part of your Abiword. I would greatly appreciate knowing a little more before downloading your program. Thank you.
Respectfully,
Robert C. Paul
