Printing problem

I have installed Abiword 2.2.4 on two separate Linux distros. Both Abiwords
were downloaded from the distros' respective apt repositories. I am having
the same printing problem with each.

As always, I renamed the normal.awt template to oldnormal.awt and the
normal.awt_en-GB to normal.awt.

In neither of the installations, does Abiword print when using this template,
or the A4 template (i.e. the two en-GB language templates). However, Abiword
prints if I use one of the en-US templates!

They are both used with the KDE desktop. Open Office, Kwrite, etc, print
correctly. It's just the new Abiword which doesn't.

I haven't come across this before and am stumped what to do.

Please can anyone give me some guidance as to what to do to sort this problem?
Apart from going back to an earlier version of Abiword - which I don't really
want to do, especially as there isn't one on the repositories. I really would
like to use 2.2.4.
