Problems with normal.awt

I have just installed AbiWord 2.0.14 on a Windows XP Home machine. I have
made changes to the 'normal.awt' file and saved it. I have then closed
AbiWord and re-started it. New documents do NOT reflect the style changes
made to normal.awt. However, I can import 'normal.awt' and the changes are
applied to the current document.

Is there any way to bind normal.awt to new documents or is this a bug?
