When typing text, certain letter combinations create an effect such that one letter, say an 'a', is an extra space away from the next letter in a word. So, if I try to type "the", I get "t he".

Only certain letter combinations do this, and even these can change (in the case of 'the', it only occurs on the first line of a new paragraph, not in the body of the text. In other cases, it always happens). The text looks terrible and is hard to read with all the spacing glitches that come up intermittantly in the text.

Try setting your zoom level to 100%, rather than "Page Width" which it's
probably at now. Spacing should appear correctly, just as it would from
your printer. Please report any information or screen shots that you
may have of this problem on bugzilla http://bugzilla.abisource.com .
Thanks for using AbiWord!
(You're using 2.0.6, on Windows, right?)
