Does this happen only in Abiword?
Which version of Abiword are you using?
(I'm pretty sure RedHat 9 only included Abiword 1.0.x which is very old at
this stage and you should try upgrading to at least some version of
Abiword 2.0.x, I think RPMs of the current 2.0.5 are around somewhere).
As italians use the comma instead of the full-stop to mark the decimal
place this is the behaviour I would have expected.
If it only occurs in abiword then please file a bug report in Bugzilla
http://bugzilla.abisource.com so that it doesn't get forgotten.
