the error-message was:
The program 'AbiWord' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.

and the file I tried to open is attached...
when I started abiword with the --sync option from my old ddd, it did just
freeze and the bt after interrupting it said:

with previous versions I too had problems loading the file I used for
creating this err.abw (manually with a text-editor). did the file-format
change in an incompatible way so that abiword can't read it's own files?
this posting might be interesting for users who believed the 2.1.0 release
was somewhat stable, but in the future I would wish to write bug-reports
to the right address. however, since following each link in my browser
takes me something around one week (probably longer), I would wish to
do this bug-reporting through email. is there such a possibility? is
there an email-interface to bugzilla-reports through email? or should I
mail the bug-reports to the developer's list without being subscribed?
and when will the next unstable release be out? usually I need 1 month
for updating the sources (as soon as 2.1.0 was out I started to download
it through cvs), so excuse me when I do not try out every single cvs
version. I prefer testing release-tags since they at least did build
and run for someone (or so I hope)...
