I wouldn't know what printer unfriendly screenshots were :) but these look
fairly good quality. JPEG is not always the best format for screenshots,
especially ones containing text but your are of high enough quality that
the text looks nice and clear.

When I'm making screenshots I usually use PNG (Portable Network Graphics
format), and I also change the window title bar to use a solid colour
rather than a gradient. Depending on what is actually in the
screenshot you can reduce the colours (using Indexed mode, and save as
8-bit PNG) and get very small screenshots.

I was able to convert this Jpeg format screenshot of Abiword
http://www.ibiblio.org/sigmaman/software/Screens/AbiWord/abiword_2.2_print_screen_001.jpg
to (indexed mode) PNG (full compression) and the file was only ~50k.
(From that screenshot I can see you are using the same graphics
manipulation program as I am).

Very generous of you. Thanks.

If you are looking for other was to help out I'm sure we could suggest a
few things: translations, articles or tutorials, sample documents,
publicising abiword, tracking down obscure bugs and providing detailed
descriptions is always helpful even programming if you are up for it.

Thanks for getting involved and thanks for using Abiword.
