You'll have to compile your own binary then.
download the gzipped tarfile
unpack it into you home directory with..
tar zxvf abiword-xxx.tar.gz
cd abiwordxxx
cd abi
./autogen.sh
./configure prefix=/home/hoyt --enable-gnome
make
make install
The AbiWord binary will appear in /home/hoyt/bin
You'll need at least RH 9 and all the *-devel rpm's.
