Hi,
Is there any way to type or insert foreign characters with diacritical
marks (accents) in Abiword 1.0.3 for Windows without using
Insert->Symbol? I don't want to use the symbol fonts to insert foreign
characters because the spell checker can't deal with those fonts.
The spell checker won't recognize text with characters inserted by
Insert->Symbol. The spell checker, however, will recognize text which
has been cut and pasted from other program like MSWord. So I need to
use normal fonts, not symbol fonts. Can I type the foreign characters
using normal fonts in Abiword for Windows?
My guess is that the numbers are different for Symbol fonts rather
than normal fonts, so the spell checker doesn't recognize the words
created with the symbol fonts. This problem does not happen when I run
Abiword for Linux, only for Windows. I know that Windows Abiword uses
Ispell, while Linux Abiword uses Aspell to spell check, so that might
be the difference.
I convinced everyone in my Portuguese class to use Abiword for Windows
to spell check our Portuguese papers, but now everyone is complaining.
I almost converted 20 other people to the world of free software.
Sigh...Oh well. Any suggestions?
-Thanks in advance, Amos Batto
