    Nothing changed since the original install of abiword, although I'm not sure
    how to tell from where I'm linking with iconv.

    Looks like mine when having iconv problems ... are you linking with
    iconv from distro or from peer dir ?
    Did something chenge meanwhile ? Upgrade, fixes, ... ?
