I'm sure it's been asked before already, but I need assistance figuring
out how to add Abiwords fonts to the font path. I get an error message
starting up that says this, though Abiword seems to function okay (as
far as I know, I'm pretty new at it).

As the message suggested, I checked the online FAQ first. It suggested
that I check my distro documentation. The closest thing I could find
(for Mandrake 8.2) was a mention of adding mozilla fonts for Netscape.
It says that I need to "edit '/etc/X11/fs/conf' and add the new
directory to the font paths." Then I need to type 'xset fp+' followed by
the font path to be added. I installed an RPM of abiword. I checked the
file list with the package and it said it it installed fonts in
/usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts and there does appear to be fonts there. So I
followed the instructions above, restarted Abiword, but the fonts aren't
there and I still get the warning. Any suggestions or pointers of where
else to look to get it working. I can use Abiword with the fonts I have,
but the screen results are kind of ugly.

I'm using the Gnome 1.4 desktop under Mandrake 8.2, version 0.99.1.
