Searching for formatting codes.

Is there any way to search for formatting codes with Abi? Specifically, I
often need to search for Carriage Returns or Tabs. With other programs, I
can do this with the ^p and ^t codes in the search dialog box. However, Abi
doesn't seem to respond to this. Is there another way that I am unaware of?
