Subject: Hindi/ISCII -- how??

I have installed AbiWord 0.9.5 RPM (for Linux/Gnome) and have found that
Hindi is listed in a dialog as a supported language, and ISCII as a
supported encoding for importing and exporting. As I am a student of
Hindi, this got me excited. (And most of my staff are from Bombay and
would be interested too, especially if the one or two extra characters
necessary for Marathi are supported too.)
However I cannot find any actual support for Hindi/ISCII in the program,
nor any mention in the help files.
I downloaded the source and did "find"s on that and did see that there
was an import and export filter that could be compiled in, but not a
word on how to turn it on, or whether that was sufficient. No fonts
either.
I'm betting that someone amongst the developers knows all about this and
just hasn't got around to talking about it publicly.
I would greatly appreciate it if that person would drop me a line. I
know this can't be a "hot topic" for most of those reading this list...
Thanks,
david.
