You're right, they are redundant. The proper family names of these fonts is
"Nimbus", and they were distributed with the GPL'ed GhostScript distribution.
When I added them to our font package, I didn't want to outright rename the
fonts (something that could be against the copyright in the font data),
so I added them with their proper names, and created aliases for compatability
with Windows documents (which will often use names like "Times New Roman",
"Arial", etc.). None of these aliases is a perfect match, but it's better
than defaulting to "Nimbus Roman" for the majority of documents produced
with the Win32 version of AbiWord.
