I've looked at some of the XML, and the impression I got was that it's only
application is for the web. It's simple, it's powerful, but it seems a little
out of place. It just doesn't "feel" right to me. I like the java idea the
best. Anyone who knows C++ wont have any trouble with it. Just learn a couple
new keywords.

Java would be the best choice, since it is a truly portable language. Since
abiWord is going to be multi-platform, this would be the best choice for a
scripting language. Java is universal. In my opinion, I'd go with the Netscape
Java Engine, using it in the beta testing, then license it from Netscape when
abiWord goes commercial.
