Improve import/export of maths

Hello everyone!

My name is Kassay Akos (you can call me Akos), first year student of Technical University of Cluj-Napoca. I heard about Google Summer of Code from a friend, and I'd like to apply this year. I am familiar with the C language, and i am sure that I can learn c++ really quickly.

The most interesting subject for me it would be to improve import-export of maths in abiword. I already downloaded abiword and tried to export maths to open office and i figured out some aspect that need improvement.

Im scared a little bit, because i feel that everyone around here has some kind of experience, which i don't have but as I said i am willing to learn.
I didn't understand if i can develop on Windows, but if not Linux is fine for me too.
