The were not "plans" exactly.

A user suggested a new layout which was not adopted. This may be for a
variety of reasons but most likely the author or the proposed design or
someone else in the chain was unable to devote the time needed to get the
changes done.

If you are volunteering to help out it might help get things changed
sooner.
