I'm sure it would, but I've been trying to stick to completely official
builds. That way, I can keep the same branding and naming as the local
app. Less confusion for folks when they try the portable app and then
become interested in the standard one. Or vice versa.
Portable apps are actually a great way to expose people to open source,
and they have a larger presence than commercial apps in the space. The
reason? Popular open source apps are more likely to be cross platform.
Cross platform apps are much less likely to use the Windows registry
to store data, so they're much easier to make portable. Add to that the
open source factor and that they can be redistributed in this new form
and the best portable apps wind up being open source.
