Well, it's getting to be a misnomer that the 1.0.6
branch is the "STABLE" one. 1.99.3 is probably just
about as stable as 1.0.6 is.
Reasons to continue using stable for the next little
bit:
1) Slightly lower memory usage
2) Slightly faster document import
3) More people testing it, and using it in production
systems. Theoretically means fewer hidden "gotcha"
bugs.
That said, there are a few hundred good reasons to use
the HEAD (1.99.3) build instead of the STABLE one. The
best, as far as I (the project's maintainer and lead
developer) care, is having more people find the bugs
in it before 2.0 gets released.
