After more than 3 years in the making, the AbiWord team is proud to announce the release of AbiWord version 1.0. AbiWord is a reliable, featureful extensible cross-platform word-processor.

AbiWord aims at robust inter-operability with existing products, such as Microsoft Word Ò, Corel's WordPerfect Ò, and others. AbiWord aims to incorporate all of the "good" features from these competing applications without any of the unnecessary features, bloat, or slowness that generally accompanies them.
