Subject: Mac support usable?

A friend and I are going to collaborate on a document via email, and he's on Mac
OS and I'm on everything, mostly linux these days but Mac OS is included too.
He asked what word processor we should use and I suggested we use AbiWord, and
gave some convincing arguments as to why (open source, open file format,
cross-platform, etc.).
I'd had the impression that the Mac support was working these days, but it's not
listed at this page:
http://www.abisource.com/free.phtml
Is it usable on Mac OS? Would it be if my friend built it from source? If so,
would you advise using the latest release tarball or the latest CVS?
I guess I should get off my arse and contribute some real code I've got a Mac
development system and the Spotlight debugger.
Mike
