Sounds like it's time for MSDI2, you know, the one that keeps the
application active after the last document is closed, *by design*. ;-)

PS: The above does sound quite confusing when written in text, but on
the screen, the close and minimize buttons sit on either the master
window or the subwindow, which usually makes it obvious what your doing
(perhaps after a little experimentation).
