Hi Everyone,

This is a list of AbiWord UI and feature enhancements proposed by Ken and Dom. Plus, it’s a nice excuse to use the new lists feature :)

For AbiWord in General

Resize the main window to something more sensible. It is far too large now.

Add color-selection boxes to the toolbar. Need to code background-color support first into Abi’s core.

Remove the www.abisource.com from the Window-Manager Border (titlebar). Leave the “AbiWord” or “AbiWord Personal” though.

“Undo” and “Redo” should have labels so that you know exactly what you’re undo’ing or redo’ing. Example: “Undo Typing: foo bar”

Selectable undo levels. The Undo (“<-”) and Redo (“->”) arrows should display a pop-down box with the last 10 or so things (with labels) that you can undo/redo. If you choose the third one, you undo/redo the bottom 8 things. See gnumeric >= 0.57 for what I mean by these last two features.

A “Date” field with formatting “mm-dd-yy”, “mm-dd-yyyy”, etc... with identical choices as the insert date-time dialog.

Use combo boxes for text alignment and spacing (single, 1.5, double). You click on the icon or arrow, and a box pops down with your options. Possibly do this also with columns.

Only have *2* toolbars. Reorganize toolbars accordingly. There is too much empty space.

(Possibly) A combined master format dialog. This could be in place of or in addition to our existing font, paragraph, and sections dialogs.

Re-think our preferences dialog. It’s ugly. All of the items are on the left. Try to balance this out.

Remove last bits of cursor dirt that I’m seeing now with lists.

Auto-correct possibly? DOminic -> Dominic, dOMINIC -> Dominic

Insert Symbol automatically previews the Symbol it is over

Gnome UI Enhancements

Add icon for page setup

Add Print-preview icons to the toolbar and File... menu

Lose the Font settings and zoom dropdowns when you dock the toolbars vertically. See gnumeric for how to accomplish this.

Gnome message dialogs should have icons (warning, info, etc...)
